Value of qualifications

The brief

The Association for Project Management (APM) wanted to better understand the perceptions of their project management qualifications, to refine and strengthen the qualification portfolio, and to ensure it meets learner needs.

Similar areas were explored in a previous brand perceptions project. This research also aimed to understand any changes since then.

The approach

Insights were gathered via a comprehensive, engaging online survey. The survey guide was developed in collaboration with APM. It was disseminated by APM via their contact lists of members, lapsed members and followers. This achieved a high response rate of over 2,000, allowing robust analysis.

The survey included questions asked in the study’s previous iteration, to understand any changes in awareness and use of project management qualification providers.

The value

Shift provided an engaging visual report delivered in APM’s template. We highlighted key findings from the research, including comparisons to the previous iteration.

Our insights provided APM with a greater understanding of awareness and the perceived professional, personal and career advantages of APM qualifications. We also provided insight into current barriers to completing qualifications and how APM could attract further qualification takers in the future.
